Big things next year?
The Altered Hours
Just heard these lads 3 weeks ago and must say I'm really liking them. There's a cool throw back to the 60's with this psychedelic band. Hopefully they play Dublin next year. Download their EP for free here.

Hush War Cry
Like The Altered Hours, HWC hail from Cork as well. I really cant wait for their EP to come out. I've seen the lads twice in the last 3 months and I can tell you they are in for a busy year. Check out a couple of their tunes here and watch out for them next year.

French Films
This is a young band that still have some maturing to do both lyrically and musically but if you like short catchy pop songs with an 80's twist then these are for you. I will certainly be keeping my eyes on this band next year
Tame Impala
Stumbled on these these by accident (looking for another band on Youtube)
Judging by the Youtube views, they're hardly a "new band". However they are new to me and I am certainly digging their sound which can only be described as psychedelic groove rock. I look forward to hearing more of their shit next year
The Light House and the Whaler
Im really digging this band. Apparently this song is off a car advert but I cant say I recognize it from the tv. Anyway, its a decent track. I look forward to purchasing their record next year.

Josh T. Pearson - Woman, When I've Raised Hell
Don't usually go for the deep south country music but this lad gave me shivers.

John Lewis ad
Some chick does a version of "Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want", on the new John Lewis ad. To her credit, she doesn't do a bad job. Still, nothing like the original. 2 minutes of pure bliss. Take it away Mozza

Death Cab for Cutie
Don't know much about this band, apart from the fact that they have been floating about for years now and have released no fewer than 7 albums. Heard this tune recently and I have to say, I'm looking forward to buying the album. Beauty of getting into a band late is that they usually have a back catalogue that you can get stuck into right away, instead of waiting a year, 2 years for the new record. Anyway, enjoy.

Waterford Geniuses
Watch out for this quality band, O Emperor. The harmonies would give Fleet Foxes a run for their money. So good in fact that they almost reduced my girlfriend to tears, in a good way of course when we first saw them perform live. The musicianship is outstanding. The lead guitar player is one of the best I have seen. The vocals, perfect and they have not one but two lead singers. The song writing is top notch too. They gel together so well. Their debut album is called Hither Thither and peaked at number 6 in the Irish charts. I see big things for these boys from Waterford. One feels an appearance on Jools Holland is imminent. I look forward to seeing them live again soon.
